Book Development -- Joan Holman has been a book development consultant for Dear Success Seeker: Wisdom from Outstanding Women by Michele Wright, Ph.D., published by Simon and Schuster in April 2009. The book features a foreword by Camille Cosby, an exclusive interview with Oprah radio and television personality Gayle King, and features letters written by positive women role models to students and success seekers from all walks of life.Joan developed a marketing plan for the book and secured a number of women who are featured in the book. She secured the special interview for the book with Gayle King, Editor at Large for O, The Oprah Magazine. The book features success advice from a multicultural group of 85 women history makers, authors, speakers, Nobel prize winners, CEOs, University Presidents, and leaders in business and the arts. This includes Phylicia Rashad, Della Reese, Patti LaBelle Shirley Jones, Billie Jean King, Susan Taylor, and Marva Collins.
Book Development -- Joan Holman has been a book development consultant for After the Ball: A Woman's Tale of Reclaiming Happily Ever After by Barb Greenberg and published by Rose Path Press in July 2009. The book is a fairy tale with Cinderella and Snow White, who end up having some problems with their Prince Charming and seek out the secret to "happily ever after." Joan worked on the story development with the author, designed the book cover and book interior in collaboration with Robin Lutes, created the packaging and positioning of the book as a small hardcover gift book for women.
Public Relations Consulting -- Joan Holman is a public relations consultant to the Center for Spirituality and Healing at the University of Minnesota. CSH has been named as one of the top five research institutes for body-mind medicine by Time Magazine. Joan is helping CSH promote its new web site Taking Charge of Your Health.
Marketing & PR Consulting & Web Site Development -- Since 2002, Joan has been a marketing and public relations consultant to Sister Rosalind Schools and Clinics of Massage. Consultant to Minneapolis Public Schools Superintendent -- Joan Holman was a consultant to Thandiwe Peebles, the former Superintendent of the Minneapolis Public Schools and worked with Dr. Peebles, the Director of Communications and Public Affairs, members of the Board of Education and other top-level MPS staff in the area of communications, public affairs, media relations and public relations. Projects and activities included consultation on the re-design of the Minneapolis Public Schools Web site, crisis communications, acting as moderator of the Superintentent's first Town Hall Meeting, internal and external communications and other activities. Superintendent Peebles came to Minneapolis after serving as the Regional Superintendent of Cleveland Municipal School District in Cleveland, Ohio. In Minneapolis, Ms. Peebles was appointed to improve those schools with the lowest performance records and a history of failure associated with low student achievement, poor leadership and high teacher turnover.
