Joan Holman Consulting to Minneapolis Public Schools Superintendent Thandiwe Peebles -- I was a consultant to Thandiwe Peebles, the former Superintendent of the Minneapolis Public Schools.
I worked with her, the Director of Communications and Public Affairs, members of the Board of Education and other top-level MPS staff in the area of communications, public affairs, media relations and public relations. Projects and activities included consultation on the re-design of the Minneapolis Public Schools Web site, crisis communications, acting as moderator of the Superintentent's first Town Hall Meeting, internal and external communications and other activities.
Superintendent Peebles came to Minneapolis after serving as the Regional Superintendent of Cleveland Municipal School District in Cleveland, Ohio. In Minneapolis, Ms. Peebles was appointed to improve those schools with the lowest performance records and a history of failure associated with low student achievement, poor leadership and high teacher turnover.
Book Development -- I have been a book development consultantfor Career Wisdom .
The book is being developed and published through the support of Camille Cosby and features letters written by positive women role models to students and success seekers from all walks of life.
I developed a marketing plan for the book and secured a number of women who are featured in the book. I also got a special interview for the book with Gayle King, Editor at Large for O, The Oprah Magazine. Career Wisdom will feature success advice from a multicultural group of over 100 women history makers, authors, speakers, Nobel prize winners, CEOs, University Presidents, and leaders in business and the arts. This includes Phylicia Rashad, Della Reese, Terry McMillan, Shirley Jones, Billie Jean King, Susan Taylor, and Marva Collins.
New Company Development - I have been a consultant for business development for a new company called Charlie Bear's Grrreat Adventure ® I created the Charlie Bear Web site and also "The Bear Blog" -- a place for Charlie and blogging teddy bears to communicate with eachother and humans.
Charlie travels to many places in the United States of America to share laughter and joy with the humans he meets along the way. He writes about his experiences in interactive Charlie Bear's Journal Books, which are filled with humor and love and tell of his exciting travel adventures.

New Company Development - I have been involved in helping the business developmentfor a new company called The Family Catalog - "Offering Music and Video that Celebrates the Human Spirit While Advancing the Mission for Schools and Other Organizations." This company is headed up by former top news anchor woman Colleen Needles who is also the President of Tremendous! Entertainment, a television production and distribution company located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
