“It could be a client that may be merging their telemetry data with scheduling or routing. So they’re taking on some other initiative in their business, which may be outside of fleet, but they’re combining their telematics data with other information to see if those business decisions make sense.”
Kathryn also provides a real-world example of how the real-time visibility telematics provides can help optimize fleet operations at a more granular level.
“Our vendor network is geofenced, so we know when vehicles are down for a maintenance event. If it happens too often, we can bring that to the attention of our customers. We can have conversations about what might be the issue. Are they keeping that vehicle too long? Is it the wrong application for that vehicle? These are questions we can address because the telemetry tell us that there’s an issue that needs to be addressed.”
Kathryn goes on to note how telematics is a powerful tool that can help organizations make informed business decisions which positively impact their entire business, not just limited to their fleet operations.
