Leveraging Fleet to Help Drive Your ESG Goals

As organizations continue to prioritize corporate social responsibility, a growing number of businesses are exploring a variety of ESG (environmental, social, and governance) initiatives. For fleet operators and procurement professionals, this often means adjusting strategies to deliver not only financial results, but also align with corporate ESG goals as well. With that in mind, fleet is one area of business that continues to garner attention for its potential to significantly impact both sustainability efforts and supplier diversity initiatives.

Whether that’s through fleet right-sizing initiatives, electrification projects, route optimization, or monitoring/correcting driver behavior, these efforts can help significantly reduce emissions and create a more sustainable fleet.”
Bob also highlights why fostering an increasingly diverse supply chain continues to be a top strategic priority for a number of organizations and notes the challenge many fleet operators face as they look to engage qualified, diversely-owned suppliers.
“Today’s supply chain partners must provide the services and resources a business needs to maximize revenue while also aligning with their corporate social responsibility philosophies and goals. However, as organization’s look for ways to diversify their fleet spend – often among the largest line items in the operation budget – they’re left with limited, if any, options.”

As you explore potential fleet ESG initiatives, you’ll want to work closely with various stakeholders from across the organization — procurement, sustainability, operations, facilities, etc. — to identify your overarching goals and determine how fleet aligns with those objectives. It’s vital that you begin your ESG journey with well-defined goals and objectives.”
