Giving Back to Our Communities

Since Steward Holman founded Holman Enterprises in 1924, giving back to the communities where our employees and customers live and work has been ingrained into the philosophy of our organization.

Charitable Giving at Holman

Holman donates a percentage of our operating profits every year to hundreds of charitable organizations in North America and Western Europe. Since 2010, that total has exceeded $1M each year; and has continued to increase, most recently exceeding $4M in donations.

The nonprofits that Holman supports represent a broad range of charitable endeavors, but they all have one thing in common: they all work to improve the communities in which Holman team members live and work. Holman employees not only donate thousands of hours of volunteer time to local nonprofits, they also help to shape the company’s philanthropy by deciding where charitable support goes. This support is available directly to charities through two giving programs: Community Grants and Community Sponsorships.

Community Grants

Our community grants help local, low-income communities access basic human needs – such as food, housing, education, and health care – and also help those communities realize their essential humanity through spiritual growth, emotional strength, artistic expression, and positive values. We provide single-year financial support of $10,000 or more, or multi-year commitments of $15,000 or more through this program. Our community grants exclusively support organizations that provide opportunities to low-income people in the counties in which we operate.

Community Sponsorships

Our community sponsorships are also awarded directly to nonprofit organizations working to improve the communities where our employees and customers live and work. These sponsorships are generally much smaller in size than our community grants, but they’re awarded monthly so that we can support specific programs and events. Like our community grants, we give special consideration to programs that support low-to-moderate-income people by delivering services or education that improves their quality of life and provides opportunities for advancement.
