What began as a single Ford dealership in New Jersey in 1924 has since blossomed into one of the largest family-owned automotive services organizations in North America. For more than 100 years, Holman’s growth and success has been fueled by an unwavering commitment to always driving what’s right for its people, its customers, and its community.

Recently, Holman’s retail automotive leadership team joined The American Executive to discuss the organization’s growth strategy which has led to the company becoming one of the largest privately owned dealership groups in the United States with more than 60 dealerships representing 34 brands across nine states.

Over the last decade, Holman’s retail business has grown significantly, highlighted by the acquisition of the Kuni family of dealerships in 2016 which doubled the company’s retail footprint at the time, along with the acquisition of the Leith family of dealerships in 2024 which once again doubled Holman’s retail footprint. This growth continues in 2026 with the recent openings of Porsche North Miami (FL) and Lexus of Vancouver (WA). In the article, Frank Carbone offered his perspective on Holman’s growth strategy and the importance of maintaining the organization’s truly unique culture.

“Leith Automotive was a privately held organization with a very similar culture to ours. And I have to say at Holman, that’s probably one of the most important things that we look for. A people-first mindset guides us.”

The article also examined Holman’s growth methodology which prioritizes a hub model of having multiple dealerships in one region rather than isolated dealerships scattered across the country. Another key aspect of Holman’s sustained retail success is a strategic approach to integration with a focus on observing and learning in an effort to mitigate potential disruptions. Later in the article, Holman’s Senior Vice President of Sales Charles Silva shared that potential expansion remains deliberate, noting that the process is extremely intentional and there needs to be strong cultural alignment.

Holman’s Senior Vice President of Retail Central Services & OEM Operations Petter Witt then explained how the company’s central services model helps to deliver a consistent customer experience across Holman’s entire retail footprint. Additionally, Holman’s Senior Vice President of Aftersales Salvo Sparacio shared how Holman’s service teams leverage unsurpassed automotive expertise to deliver trusted guidance and additional value for customers. Finally, the article concludes with Frank Carbone offering his perspective on the road ahead.

“Bring privately held gives Holman a tremendous advantage — we’re not managing to the next quarter, we’re building for the next generation. That perspective allows us to invest with intention and make decisions today that strengthen the company for the next hundred years.”
