Holman UK Climbs the FN50 Rankings

FN50

What a fantastic evening at the FN50 Dinner, celebrating the very best in the fleet industry alongside our valued partners and peers. We were proud to be recognised for our commitment to employee wellbeing and customer service excellence, and thrilled to mark our rise to number 15 in the FN50 rankings!

Wellbeing That Drives Performance

The Wellbeing Award recognises the work being done across the fleet industry to support the physical and mental health of employees. So naturally, we had plenty to talk about! We’ve built a workplace culture where employees feel supported, valued, and empowered to do their best work, and it was great to see this recognised on the night.

From mental health first aiders and flexible working to wellness apps, in-office yoga, and our Achievers recognition platform, wellbeing is embedded in everything we do. And it shows – in our latest Great Place to Work survey, 84% of Holman employees said it’s a great place to work – well above the UK benchmark of 65%. We believe that a motivated, supported team drives better outcomes, for each other and for our customers.

Customer Service That Keeps Fleets Moving

We were also proud to see our Downtime Control Team recognised as finalists in the Team Customer Service category. Their work is a standout example of proactive, customer-first fleet management.
Using a three-tier triage model and deep technical expertise, the team consistently delivers an impressive average downtime of just 2.57 days, compared to the industry average of 7.2 days.

They are a team in every sense of the word… the output clients receive is far greater than the sum of the parts.

Matt Hill

Operations Manager

This recognition reinforces our commitment to proactive, customer-first fleet management, ensuring vehicles stay on the road and keep our customers moving.

FN50 2025 Report – Van Funding Trends

The FN50 report, released on the night, offered fresh insight into how UK fleets are funding their vans. While contract hire (operating lease) remains dominant at 77.3%, it’s down from 80.1% last year. Meanwhile, finance lease has grown to 20.3%, up from 17.7%, as fleets seek greater flexibility and control.

Rory Mackinnon, Holman’s Commercial Director, explains why this shift is happening:

We are seeing many customers choose finance lease for electric vans so they can have more control about keeping vehicles for longer or over exiting and disposal of the vehicle at a time that suits them.

Changes to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) have also played a role, reducing the accounting benefits of contract hire. From January 2026, all UK businesses will follow these rules under GAAP, meaning both contract hire and finance leases must be listed on the balance sheet, a shift that’s especially relevant as fleets transition to electric. With diesel still making up over 90% of the market, finance lease offers more control and potential upside for fleets confident in residual values.

Flexibility, Maintenance, and Fleet Management Solutions

Holman’s flexible approach to fleet funding helps businesses adapt to evolving market conditions. Nearly 60% of van fleets now include maintenance within their lease packages, a trend that’s rebounding after a dip last year.
We also manage one of the UK’s largest portfolios of fleet and accident management services, with deep expertise in commercial vehicles. While some fleets are unbundling services, our tailored, menu-based approach ensures every customer gets the right fit.

We work with a lot of corporate van fleets and they know these are the strengths of what we can offer.
